Foreword from Our Captain

Todmorden Golf Club Captain 2020 Mike Shackleton

Dear Members

Welcome to Todmorden Golf Club in our 125th year, formed in 1894 at Todmorden Edge and opening May 4th 1895. We moved to our present site at Rive Rocks on January 1st 1907.

As the dates indicate the club has survived two world wars and various other conflicts including the current situation with the Covid-19 pandemic but, throughout, the club continues to prosper and is arguably the best 9 hole course in the North West.

With our membership on the increase and visitor numbers at an all time high everyone is enjoying our great facilities so it is good news for TGC moving forward.

When the club house is allowed to open, albeit with the inevitable restrictions, all is looking good with new paintwork, lights and new carpet.

The course is benefiting from some welcome rain following our Mediterranean spring, the greens continue to improve and should be in fantastic shape for the Major competitions.

We will be drafting a revised fixture list shortly to commence after the scheduled open of season on the 13th June. Book your name down for the shotgun start either am or pm. Great to see so many members entering the competitions, but on the down side for some we will also be having a handicap meeting; new members beware!

The summer league continues to gain in popularity. A new fixture for Wednesdays, you can play anytime on the day. Based on a 9 hole score it is ideal to pop up after work for a quick round in the summer sunshine.

Our Rabbits Captain has indicated the trip to Formby Hall could go ahead as planned so watch out for information on the newsletter.

My Captains trip to Hazel Grove is still on so there will be a sheet in the foyer once we have access to the club house.

We are pleased to announce that Fielden Factors Builders Merchants have kindly agreed to continue to be the main sponsor of the club for a further three years .

Another positive for TGC is the upcoming launch of our new website, it looks great, is full of all the information you need to keep in touch. Thanks to our Rabbits Captain, I know he has put a lot of time and effort into this.

Looking forward to the coming year and will see you either on the course and hopefully in the clubhouse soon.

Keep your eye out for regular updates via the newsletter and the new website.

Hoping of your continued support of TGC.

Regards and stay well,

Mike Shackleton
