No Idea Where Your Comps are Coming From?

If you’re like our Jonny Rob and have no idea where your first ball of the season ended up (yes, really) then you probably don’t have much of idea what competitions are about and which route will have you ending up taking all the glory. So here’s a guide, provisionally you’ll understand given our rearranged fixtures, that will help you through.

Please do remember that some of the fixtures and formats will be affected but the current fixture issues but we will endeavour to provide detail where possible. All official dates for a competition will be governed by BRS. All rules will be posted in the club house window, until we can enter the clubhouse, on the day of competition. The JHJ Barker

Major. 36 holes, stroke play, full handicap.

Prov Dates

11th & 18th July 2020

Qualification

Winner receives the JHJ Barker trophy and has their name on the board at TGC.

Notes

Adds heavily weighted points toward player of the season as well as an additional shot off handicap for the winner as well as any automatic adjustments

The Captain’s Prize

Major. 36 holes, stroke play, full handicap.

Prov Dates

1st & 8th August 2020

 

Qualification

Winner receives the Captain’s trophy and has their name on the board at TGC.

The President’s Prize

Major. 36 holes, stroke play, full handicap.

29th August & 12th September 2020

Qualification

The Centenary

Major. 18 holes, stableford, full handicap.

The Championship

Major. 36 holes, stroke play, scratch.

Qualification

Winner receives the Club Championship trophy and has their name on the board at TGC.

Fred Hirst

Major. Matchplay, knockout, full handicap difference.

Prov Dates

Starts July 2nd

Qualification

Winner receives a club prize and has their name on the board at TGC.

Monthly Medals

Handicap qualifier. 18 holes, stroke play, full handicap.

Prov Dates

(1) June 20th, (2) August 22nd (3) September 19th

Qualification

The highest ranked Tiger and highest ranked Rabbit of each Medal progress to the Golf Medal Final. The Golf Medal final is a single medal tournament with the highest ranked finalist winning the Gold Medal.

Notes

Rabbits are ranked with 10pts for top Rabbit, 9pts for second place etc. These points are added to Silver Rabbit total to make the Buck Rabbit league.

Silver Rabbit

Silver Rabbit final qualifier. 18 holes, stroke play, full handicap.

Prov Dates

(1) June 28th (2) July 4th, (3) July 25th (4) TBC

Qualification

Top 2 ranked Rabbits progress to the Silver Rabbit Finals. The 8 qualifiers from the 4 Silver Rabbit tournaments play a matchplay knock tournament to decide the Silver Rabbit of the Year.

Notes

Rabbits are ranked with 10pts for top Rabbit, 9pts for second place etc. Silver Rabbit points are added to any Medal ranking points to make the Buck Rabbit League. These winners also go forward to the HHDRGA inter-league rabbit finals such as the RT Morley Trophy. Handicaps must be 15.5 or greater to qualify for each Silver Rabbit tournament.

Open Stroke

Handicap qualifier. 18 holes, stroke play, full handicap.

Prov Dates

(1) June 28th (2) July 4th, (3) July 25th (4) TBC

Qualification

An Open Stroke is a handicap qualifier. Usually played in conjunction with another qualifier .i.e Silver Rabbit.

Notes

Handicaps are automatically adjusted as well as open to adjustment for general play.

So there’s a very quick look into the world of men’s competitions. We’ll add some more detail to that as we progress and link to the relevant pages. It has also to be noted there’s an entry fee to all competitions. It’s £5 for the majors and £3.50 elsewhere. Prizes, awarded to your club card, are given to the winners. The glory is there for all…
