Mark ‘Bubba’ Wallis has won the April Medal in startling fashion. In pretty steady form coming into the start of the season Mark was boomeranging those drives out there as usual. On Saturday, despite a solid par on the 1st the first few holes had their usual mix of scores including a 7 on the 3rd. But cue a birdie on the 6th and the scorecard began to light up. With only four bogies after that 6th Mark carded a gross two over par on the back 9 to come home in 36 strokes and a total of 78. With a handicap index slash of 2.4 strokes Mark is now firmly into Tiger territory and has qualified for the Gold Medal. With 25 points to put him top of the Player of the Year chart, too, no wonder he looked a little smug around the club house. Congrats also go to Allan Stobbs and Matt Saxon who shot a fantastic 66 & 67 respectively. Matt also qualifies for the Gold Medal.

Mark Wareing finishes off with a net 70 in the April Medal.

The first Medal of the season kicked off other competitions and qualifiers. One accolade that all players wants is ‘player of the year’ even if Godfrey Pickles has nabbed the car parking space that was once the victors prize!
